Chronic Illness . . . according to the Center for Disease Control's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion . . .affects over 90 million Americans. One in three people.
That is a huge number. And it grows larger every year. There are many reasons why . . .
Why "Quick" counseling and coaching? And how does it work?
The best kind of relief -- for someone in distress -- is quick relief.
So Dan and Sylvia wanted to reassure those with CI that they will see real results in a very short time.
For some, that means three or four counseling sessions, combined with four to six weeks of coaching.
And though every client is different, most clients will see near-miraculous changes in a matter of weeks and months.
Dan and Sylvia also wanted to distinguish their Quick Counseling + Coaching sessions from lengthy "talk therapy" that can take many years, and isn't designed to address all the practical issues that people with CI need to resolve -- in order to create happy and productive lives.
As one example, let's look at the story of Dan and Sylvia's client, Arielle. A young woman in her thirties, Arielle had multiple sclerosis, was experiencing a high level of anxiety, and had difficulty concentrating at both her part-time jobs.
Working initially with Dan, Arielle realized that long-held beliefs caused her to overextend herself, and not set limits with her co-workers.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Arielle ultimately quit one job, and discussed sharing responsibilities more equitably at the other. Soon, her anxiety had lessened, her concentration returned, and her CI symptoms were less troubling.
Greatly encouraged, Arielle decided to work with Sylvia in order to learn one more healthy behavior: making self-care a priority. Sylvia helped Arielle to view self-care as something to look forward to, rather than a chore to avoid. Creating a spare room retreat stocked with uplifting books, CDs, and movies, Arielle soon found that her daily self-care time had transformed the stressors of her illness. She felt an inner tranquility she could draw upon, whenever there were upsets at work or in her personal life.
As Arielle's story illustrates, Quick Counseling + Coaching offers the complementary care that neither medicine nor traditional "talk" therapy are designed to provide.
As a result, Quick Counseling + Coaching can mean the difference between ongoing anxiety, depression, and hopelessness . . . and living a life that is not only free of those debilitating emotions, but one that has meaning, purpose, and real fulfillment.

About Therapist Dan Lippmann, LCSW & Life Coach Sylvia Lippmann, MEd, MA, CLC
Both Dan Lippmann and Sylvia Lippmann were motivated to help those with chronic illness because of their own experience with CI.
Dan was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his thirties, and began practicing meditation and self-hypnosis to manage his chronic pain.
But it was Sylvia's life coaching that helped Dan shift his attention away from all the things he could no longer do, to instead focus on making the best use of his time, energy, and resources. This single change enabled Dan to create a life of far greater ease and enjoyment than he originally thought possible.
Because Dan felt so much better, he began referring his patients with chronic illness to Sylvia for life coaching work. And they, too, learned to use practical strategies that made an enormous difference, enabling them to find enjoyment in life and, over time, meaning and purpose.
After working with chronic illness clients for about five years, Sylvia decided to write a book (Don't Let Chronic Illness Stand in Your Way: The Coach Approach to Reaching Your Full Potential) describing her coaching techniques, in order to bring her method to all those people she would never work with personally.
Excited by the idea of reaching larger audiences, Dan and Sylvia then decided to create a joint online practice or business -- Feel Better Now-CI -- that would offer their Quick Counseling + Coaching teleseminars, info-products, and individual sessions to people with chronic illness nationwide. Meanwhile, their eZine and blog would share free information and build a feeling of community for those with chronic illness. (www.FeelBetterNow-CI.com)
